MODEL MAKING

Model making is extremely important to understand how the concept will look and function.

In my first year of Product Design, I used a light foam to cut out different forms of the spoon I was designing. For the final prototype, the foam was a lot harder but still easy to shape using the band saw and filers.

The models do not need to be large or fancy, as seen with my quick mock-ups of the chair designed in a group. The final model was the first large prototype I had made, with the help of two others.

My capstone project provided me with plenty of opportunities to get creative and design lots of different moulds. My favourite was the cement pots, which I was able to gift afterward!
