Hello!

My name is Rebekah, and I am passionate about designing products and spaces that allow people to feel comfortable and at home. From 2018 - 2020 I studied a Bachelor of Product Design after enjoying Design and Visual Communication, Design and Photography/Sculpture at high school. Still not satisfied, I decided to continue my studies and fulfill my childhood dream of becoming an Architectural Designer.

I enjoy photography and love to use photos as a way of exploring concepts early on. I also love to put on my walking shoes and explore the paths around Canterbury and the rest of New Zealand when I'm not busy studying and working part-time.

I also love to soak up the sun while diving into a good book and will take any opportunity to spend time with my family!

2018 - 2020

University of Canterbury

2021 - 2023

ARA Institute of Canterbury

2017 -

North Canterbury Books

At UoC I studied a Bachelor of Product Design, majoring in Industrial.

I knew about the design process from earlier years of Design and Visual Communication, but Product Design was able to grow my knowledge and helped me to understand how to continue adapting concepts further.

I learned how to work in a team environment through many group projects, and worked on my presentation skills through drawings for portfolios and oral presentations.

I learned about Computer-Aided Design and enjoyed combining the final outcomes with editing programs such as Photoshop.

Continuing my studies, I have been working my way towards an Architectural Studies degree at ARA. I have almost completed 2 years, learning the principles of design in more depth and understanding how their use can transform a designated space.

I have learned about the structural bones of buildings and how they are created from the foundation upwards and will continue to build on this in the coming years.

ArchiCAD was introduced to us from the beginning of year 1 and was a lot of fun learning.

History of Architecture was also a valuable course that explained in-depth how generations of design have built empires and changed the way our landscape looks.

I have worked at North Canterbury Books (was Papertee Rangiora) since 2017. I have gained a lot of confidence throughout the years from communicating with customers and building on my responsibilities as a retail assistant. I am frequently given the job of displaying stock, designing posters and signage by hand, and I help run the social media pages.

From 2021 I have taken on further responsibility of running the retail side of the store on Saturdays.
